Q: What happens when the World’s Greatest Watch Maker hooks up with the World’s Greatest Carmaker?

A: A Masterpiece.

Pioneering luxury Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer and electric carmaker Tesla Motors have teamed up in a worldwide partnership as the iconic Swiss brand celebrates its 150th anniversary.

On display at the Geneva Motor Show is the 2010 TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster. This one-of-a-kind collector’s car includes a unique interior by Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, incorporating TAG Heuer avant-garde design elements and a specially designed center console due to host TAG Heuer’s cutting edge concept watch, to be revealed in Basel on March 18.

This car also features a TAG Heuer Meridiist mobile phone as well as a one-fifth second Heuer Limited Edition Stopwatch. This Swiss-made timepiece with mechanical movement pays tribute to the 1860 founding of the company and evoques the mythic revival of the brand’s vintage stopwatches.

The car’s exterior color scheme is Foucault Field Gray, embodying the innovative spirit of both companies. The design was inspired by the new TAG Heuer concept watch, a technical milestone in mechanical movements, which brings technologically advanced art to life through motion.

The 2010 TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster will remain at the Tesla booth during the public show days, March 4-14 at the Palexpo-Geneva conference center. The car will then be driven to Baselworld, the world’s largest watch exhibition, for a special event March 18.

Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer has re-issued one of its most coveted creations, the Silverstone Chronograph. The Heuer Silverstone chronograph was originally introduced back in 1974, emulating the curvature of the famous English racing track, hence the name.

The original Silverstone timepiece housed the Chronomatic Calibre 11, the first-ever self-winding automatic chronograph with micro rotor. This revolutionary movement provided wearers with precision timing comparable to the standards of professional chronometer instruments. The new Silverstones will be released in brown and blue colorways with perforated alligator straps and an updated Caliber 11 movement with a Dubois-Depraz module.

Only 1500 examples will be offered, with an asking price at $6,500 apiece.

If you’ve been looking for a watch to match your pricey red sports car with black interior, you can’t do much better than the TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Chronograph Watch ($6,900). It features a stainless steel case with titanium carbide coating for a smooth black finish, a black dial with chronograph, tachymeter, and date functions, water resistance good up to 100 meters down, and a black alligator strap with red stitching and a folding clasp closure.

Tag Heuer have partnered with Lamborghini to create the limited edition Meridiist Lamborghini. The Tag Heuer Meridiist Lamborghini Edition phone is based on the original Meridiist and features a redesigned back inspired by the angular design of Lamborghini’s cars and featuring the Lamborghini designation displayed on their engines. The front features the Lamborghini crest whilst the case is coated in black titanium carbide making it resistant to scratches. Only one thousand nine hundred and sixty three phones will be made corresponding the the year 1963 when Lamborghini was founded and the phones will be available from Tag Heuer stores and Lamborghini dealerships.

Triumph and TAG Heuer have joined forces to create a one-of-a-kind Bonneville Heuer motorcycle. Inspired by Steve McQueen and the Porsche 917k that the famous actor, racecar driver and motorcycle rider piloted in the classic film Le Mans, the Bonneville Heuer is painted up in the classic Gulf Oil blue and orange scheme and will be used for promotional purposes. “McQueen famously wore a Heuer Monaco watch in the aforementioned race film and was a renowned Triumph enthusiast.”, Says Neil Morley, Triumph’s Head of Brand Communications:

“We are delighted to play our part in this exciting project. The Triumph Bonneville and TAG Heuer Monaco are both timeless masterpieces, celebrating their respective 50th and 40th anniversaries this year. We also both have a natural connection with Steve McQueen, who famously wore a Monaco watch in the film Le Mans and was renowned for his love of our bikes, making this a very natural collaboration.”
